Aug 31 Fri afternoon

We we're off to a great start.  Two events of significance so far.  1) We attended the brunch for Patrons (which is where last year we had the photo op with Mr. Clooney) and saw lots of people, including: Laura Dern, Laura Linney, Ken Burns, Leonard Maltin, and. . . . drumroll. . . . Ben Affleck!  Rumor was he would be here.  I have various pix of him & others and took one of Michelle with him!  She's got quite a start in her collection of famous people.  :-)   I had trouble adding it here so I'll post it later, but here's a pic of just him.
2) Then we went to the first screening for Patrons and it was, naturally, one starring Ben Affleck (which he directed & co-produced with George Clooney).  It's called Argo.  It's about the freeing of 6 of the Americans during the Iran hostage crisis---the 6 who had escaped capture by the Iranians before the rest were taken hostage.  This one will be really popular with everyone.
It's almost time for the opening day barbecue, then off to another film tonight.
We're still unsure what sneak previews there will be that have not yet been announced.  The Festival has a new app for our phones, so we can keep up with the changes in scheduling.
Gotta go.  No time to write more now.

Aug 30 #2 afternoon

We just got the preliminary program and while we do not know about all the people & films that will be here, we do know a few things.
The Festival honoree this year will be Marion Cotillard!  Magnifique!  She has a new film that will debut, Rust & Bone and this means she will definitely be here to introduce it! (You've probably seen her in Midnight in Paris, Contagion, and my favorite: La vie en rose. ).  So this news makes me tres content!
A few other films we know will be here:  Hyde Park on the Hudson with Laura Linney (so I assume she will be here this year---yipee) & Bill Murray.  It's billed as an "FDR drama." This one should be excellent & is getting a lot of attention.
Ken Burns new film, Central Park Five is here (a dark documentary about NY slaying).
Looks like there are a lot of titles they will not release for the next few days, so we'll wait  see.. .
It's mid afternoon, pouring rain & hail, thunder.  Hope the weekend isn't rainy.

Aug 31 Telluride #1

Friday morning

We arrived last night & settled into our very nice condo for the next 6 days.  Picture is from my morning walk.  This afternoon we'll get the preliminary program and some hints about who might be here.  We have our ritual lunch scheduled downtown followed by massages in the afternoon, and tomorrow we'll be off and running!  More later. . .

Countdown to Telluride 2012

Michelle & I  look forward to the Film Festival all year long, and in the weeks before (like now) it becomes a preoccupation.  This year I'll try to post at least once a day, starting Aug 31.  Hope you can "join" us!  :-)
